findable 2 It was not very easy to find this map, even though I’m acquainted with this platform. It took me some time to realize that I had to click on the search button without a query in order to get the full list of datasets and then search for the location dataset I was looking for. A specialist in the area helped me finding it.
findable_steps 1) I looked at the website of many different sources from Rio de Janeiro’s City Hall, but I had trouble finding the correct link. I consulted with a specialist for help. Finally, when I came to the link above, I downloaded it but I couldn’t understand very well what kind of data was there, so I came to the specialist again to help me figure out the content of the dataset.
licence_url https://portalgeo.pcrj.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/3b25 The same link for the map above also displays a license in the footer. It is a Open Database License. It also has a mention to “public use” of the data at the same link.
Collected by government Yes
usability 2 There are many formats in which data are available, but you should have some knowledge on geographic datasets in order to work with this (including knowledge in geographic softwares).
collector_name IPP - Instituto Pereira Passos The Pereira Passos Institute (IPP) is the research department for Rio de Janeiro's City Government, responsible for collecting data, strategic planning and public policies integration, mapping, cartographic production and geotechnology application.
characteristics Addresses, Coordinates (latitude, longitude), Data available for entire city When I downloaded the spreadsheet available, I could get the information by addresses for the entire city, but I couldn’t get zipcodes and coordinates. However, the specialist I consulted said the last column, “shape_length”, had the intrinsic coordinates that could be accessed through a GIS software, if I downloaded it in shapefile format. So I considered that this information is available. Zipcodes are not available though.

The link goes directly to a map hosted in IPP’s open geodata website.

Reviewed. Changed B5 to No because zipcodes were not available.
